Markets revolt on Feds Operation Twist. Update Sept 22 2011
Marc's Notes:
Markets didn't like Operation Twist from the Federal Reserve yesterday. This
operation invests the money from any Treasuries coming due that the Federal
Reserve owns and loans it back again to the Treasury for longer IOUS like 6
to 30 years bonds, in essence trading in shorter term IOUS for longer term
IOUS.
Sounds a bit confusing and it is unless one really understands how these
things work.
It's not a effective as a QE "money printing" program but it's an attempt to
drive down (again) interest rates so we will borrow more. (They just don't
get it).
Anyway, the market didn't think the FED did enough so it's throwing a
tantrum to see if it can get Uncle Ben (Fed Chief) to warm up another bottle
of QE money creation.
We will see. For now, everything is getting sold off including gold and
silver.
Tread carefully. We do have some updates. All gamblers plays initiated in
the last few months should now be closed or have stops set. Our short China
play FXP is up nicely again so sell it or set a stop for locking in profits.
Set stop at 41.50. Nice profits finally!
Short Euro EUO. Ditto, sell or raise your stop to 19.05. Ok profit. We will
take any we can get.
Natural Gas is a long (LONG) term play which is still in the red. Hold.
TBT is our interest rate fund that has been slaughtered due to FED
intervention. I am (unbelievably) looking to add a position here again
(averages me down) as I can't see it going much lower from here, buts that
me, not you. Only brave souls should follow me into this cave and don't
gamble much!
Gold and silver should be added while people are selling it and they are
now. Sell it when people are buying and they are not right now. (Get it?)
Contrary (Short) funds are doing nicely so hold those but set stops to
protect profits if you are the nervous type. Those holding BEARX just do
nothing.
Forces Vives, the Swiss Annuity insurer has closed the Swiss Franc annuity
to new applications. As I said, those that got in, good for you. Now we have
to use another currency for a Swiss Annuity and there are still good
choices. I expect more closures soon so get on board now if a Swiss Annuity
entices you. I still view them as a necessary holding to help you protect
your money. Email Doug at this address with questions:
info at swissadvantage.com.
All for now, but those looking for new dividend payers, check out Terra
Nitrogen. Its pays nicely and has been hammered. TNH.
Dream Portfolio will be updated this week.
Careful,
Marc
Once again here is the 2 decade Japanese market plotted against ours now.
Interesting.

Take delivery and store in a safe place. You may have 25 % of this amount in
silver and the remaining 75% in gold. I usually buy only generic 1 ounce
rounds or ounce bars, no collectibles. You may buy any 99 % pure gold or
silver assets but pay no more then a few percentage points over spot. Again,
buy NO Collectibles, No Margin account, No Commodity accounts. Take delivery
of standard coins only.
I usually buy Gold Eagles, Buffalos, Kruggerands, Silver Maples. Gold Pandas
Generic Rounds. Peace Dollars or Morgans.

Rick Baugnon- (Please ask for Rich only as he knows what Marc recomends)
I have probably purchased the most ounces of gold and silver from Blanchard.
Not only do they sell regular coins and bars, they are the only contact on
this e-letter that also can provide you with graded coins and collectible
coins. Although I usually recommend only standard coins, I do own
collectibles as they may help against a confiscation scenario and we need to
be prepared for everything. Please call Rick Baugnon and tell them you are a
Money Matters Listener and he will give you special consideration and he
knows my preferences. Use his direct line above. Rick and I have discussed
Money Matters needs and he knows what to provide.
